Amazing Grace

Amazing Grace was written by English clergyman John Newton, a former slave-ship captain who turned to faith and later became an outspoken abolitionist. He penned the words in 1772 for a New Year's sermon in the village of Olney, and they first appeared in print in the 1779 collection Olney Hymns. The tune most people know today, New Britain, was paired with the hymn in America in the nineteenth century.

Our Love to Sing choir gives this timeless hymn its calm, uplifting warmth, making it a moving choice for carol services, school assemblies and reflective moments at home.
