Joy to the World is one of the most-published Christmas hymns in the English-speaking world — yet it didn’t begin as a Christmas song at all. The English hymn-writer Isaac Watts penned the words in 1719 as a poetic setting of Psalm 98. The triumphant tune we know came later, arranged in 1848 by the American composer Lowell Mason, whose melody is often linked to the music of Handel.
Our Love to Sing choir delivers all the joy the title promises, with a soaring, celebratory sound that’s perfect for carol services, school nativities, church performances and joyful singing at home.
